Us
Our Mission
Desanclados is a non-profit organization dedicated to using sailing as a means of education, inclusion, and personal development . We offer sailing programs and nautical activities for children, teenagers, and young adults, fostering teamwork, resilience, environmental awareness, and healthy competition.
We are part of Make Them Sailors, a 501c3 non-profit in the US.
Our history
In 2021, Federico López and Tomás Guaragna launched CRA Escuela de Vela, a project born from a clear desire: to offer an alternative to traditional sailing schools , an independent educational space based on sustainability and access to the river. From their base at the Club Remeros Alberdi, they began with limited resources but a grand vision: to teach sailing to everyone.
What began as a small school with old boats in need of repair quickly gained momentum thanks to the enthusiasm of the sailing community and the support of passionate families. Today, boys, girls, and adults sail with us year-round, learning not only sailing techniques but also essential values such as camaraderie, perseverance, and respect for nature .
In just four years, CRA school has grown exponentially. We have our own boats, storage facilities, specialized coaches for training and racing, and a solid structure that allows for year-round operation, both for beginners and those competing at the national level.
This growth wasn't just sporting, but also institutional: in 2025, we transformed this space into the Desanclados Foundation, our parent institution. This step reflects our commitment to continuity, inclusion, and collective impact. It's no longer a personal project of its founders, but a community legacy that ensures that access to the river and sailing opportunities will remain open to all , now and always, on a non-profit basis .
Our Programs

The competitive team is made up of sailors who have graduated from the school and are interested in the competitive side of the sport. The team participates in the national events calendar.

03.

04.
Summer sailing program
During December, January, and February, we combine sailing, games, and activities on land and in the water, with a team of sailing instructors and physical education teachers. We offer classes Monday through Friday, open to the public. It's a perfect opportunity for kids who have never interacted with the river.

How to help
Every contribution we receive—whether is monetary, boats, equipment, or clothing—directly transforms into real opportunities for learning, inclusion, and personal growth for those who come to the river through our foundation. Thanks to your support, we can maintain our boats, provide scholarships, and continue opening the world of sailing to more people every day.
Today, our sailing school is only sustained by the tuition paid by our students, which limits our reach and excludes those who cannot afford it. Our dream is to change this reality: to make access to the river and to sailing possible for everyone, regardless of their economic situation. If you want to help us achieve that dream, here's what you can do!
Desanclados is part of the Make Them Sailors network. This network helps us connect with the community of nonprofit sailing schools. In addition, Make Them Sailors is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the United States, and through their platform, we are able to receive donations from the U.S., which are tax-deductible.
